Lanamere Arabians
Lanamere Arabians was established in 1996 and is the home of purebred Arabians of mostly Crabbet breeding, and more recently, Anglo Arabians, to stay in touch with the changing market. The stud has focused on the proven endurance lines of Royal Domino, Crystal Fire, Grand Royal, Spindrift, Gaspar, Sindh, Count Manilla and Scherzade.
The stud bloodlines were initially based upon the pedigree of Suruk ( Sirocco / Mishaf- Mildom), a very successful endurance gelding for Caroline. Other performance lines such as Chip Chase Sadaqa , Maf ue Sultan, Banderol and Cedardell Zanzibar were added along the way.
The stud's stallions and mares are all closely related to competitive and sound endurance horses and most have been successful themselves, at show, dressage or endurance.
Lanamere Arabians began on the outskirts of Brisbane, then very quickly moved to Lake Manchester for larger acreage and access to endless forestry riding. In 2007 the stud was moved to Fairney View near Fernvale, to a lovely 140 acre drought resistant property. The flatter well grassed land was also more suited to the development of extensive horse facilities.
Breeding Arabian horses, and endurance riding became a family affair, with Tim and Jess joining Caroline and Paul Fitzgerald on the trails for quite a few years. However, all have moved on to other activities, and Lanamere Arabians no longer breeds or competes in Endurance.

Most of my friends will know that horses have been a large part of our lives for many years. For Paul and I, pretty much all of our lives actually, but endurance riding and breeding for the last 25 years. So, it is with much sadness that we want to let our horse friends know that we have decided that we are no longer going to be breeding. And most likely very little riding.
So, in addition to the sales list which I put out there in early March (Pre Covid 19), we now have mares in foal and broodmares to add to this list. The young purebred arabs I had considered keeping for future breeding are also now for sale.
I would like to make it clear that this is not a drought sale, fire sale, covid 19 sale… This is really because our lives have changed for many reasons and we can no longer put the time and effort into the horses as we feel that they deserve. If you need to know…it’s just school, work, getting old injuries, losing our purebred stallion Wolfy, wanting to do other things…and just basically we no longer have the passion and drive to make it the priority in our lives…
The most important thing for us is the right home for each and every horse. We know that for the oldies and retired, they are best just staying with us. And any other horse for that matter. But if we feel that you can provide a good home for any of the younger horses, we would love to watch their progress with you.

Sadly in November 2019 we lost our beloved purebred stallion Merton Amadeus (Wolfy) to colic. He had been a part of our lives and our family for over 20 years as an endurance horse and sire to many of our horses.

2019 Breeding news....our two fat ladies for this season are Lanamere D'Or ( Dorian Bay/Bremervale Diamonda) and Lanamere Roulette (Linden Shahmal/Ruwinda). Both are in foal to Avlon Wilserene and are due in October.
2019 Riding news...the early part of the year was devoted to intro rides at Fernvale and Bony Mountain, and then to a 40km at Killarney, to get Lanamere Britney started in endurance.

Quiet on the competition side of things due to school and club sports commitments. But got lots of good trail ride training in throughout the year. Great legging up and education and of course the walker. Got to Imbil to do a 40km training ride.

Riding news 2016...2017
2016 was a quiet year from a competition perspective!A few horses were sold and the awesome Beaudacious te on loan, was returned.We acquired an Avlon Wilserene daughter Anna's Billie Jean for Paul, and also started Lanamere Nimbus for Caroline. See Endurance horses for pics!Tim returned to Lanamere Brio and Jess partnered with Lanamere Iris.There were also other issues such as the Hendra vaccination debate putting the sport in a bit of a spin. Plus our own mix of school sport commitments and the like...Nimbus and Iris have started the 2017 season well, with successful completions at the Bony Mountain Breast Cancer Fund Raiser 20km social ride.

2016 saw the arrival of 4 lovely foals for us! See the Stud List for details!We have 3 mares in foal for 2017. Lanamere Nightmusic is in foal to Steel Poppy Bayeaux, Lanamere De Javu is in foal to Avlon Wilserene and Not A Lady is in foal to Merton Amadeus.All of last years visiting mares have had great foals and this years visitors to Avlon Wilserene are all happily in foal, just waiting on confirmation of one. Thank you for your ongoing support.Sadly we lost our dear retired broodmare Bremervale Diamonda in 2016 at 30 yrs of age. She will always have a place in our hearts.
Breeding update 2015/2016We have finally come to the end of our 2015/2016 breeding season with the news that Mataranka Diamonds owned by Sabrina and Nigel Stephens of Cedar Glen Arabians, is in foal to our Anglo stallion Avlon Wilserene.
Sabrina also brought Drumlin Maalena back to Will earlier in the season for her second foal by him. Chingford Bint Liberty owned by Shane Butler was the first mare for the season and since then it has been a constant flow of mares and all resulting in positive pregnancies.
Gurandada Charm owned by Ricky Petersen has been confirmed in foal to Will, as has Kie-al Mandirah owned by Nicole Urqhuart and David Smith. Other lovely mares to visit Will are Inshallah Anniversary owned by Jacqui and Jody, and Samura (Poland) owned by John Walker and Lee Edwards of Melcot Arabians.
Hannah and Casey Risson chose our purebred Arabian stallion Merton Amadeus for their mare Millcreek Madrigal.
And from our stables, we have Lanamere DeJavu, Lanamere Roulette and Lanamere D’Or in foal to Avlon Wilserene for Anglo foals , and Lanamere Femmara in foal to Merton Amadeus for a purebred Arabian.

HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY to our dear Bremervale Diamonda ( Destinado / Bremervale Katische ( Oxford Decimus/Bremervale Phaedra). She has been a wonderful broodmare for us.
Lanamere D'Artagnon was a lovely strong riding horse. L D'Breu went interstate and is now a broodmare. L. D'Or is producing some lovely foals for us. Lanamere Dolce and Lanamere Domino have been sold overseas as endurance horses. Lanamere Darius is a 5 year old who has recently been broken in and is now waiting to start endurance training. Besides a 40km training ride at Imbil, trail riding and exercise on the walker, Brio partook in lots of pseudo cattle work around our paddocks. 2019 saw Brio sold to a great new home where she has partnered with a new rider to the sport of endurance.

Beau came to us early in 2013 as a horse for Tim to start endurance on. They started with trainers at Lake Manchester and then stepped up to 80km Endurance rides in 2014, at Maryvale, Imbil, Spring Mountain and Lake Manchester to achieve Open Endurance status for Beau and Tim. They ended a good season with a First junior at the 100km event at the Qld State Champs.
In 2015 Beau looked after Jess in her first training rides at Wyaralong and Blackbutt, followed by 3 Endurance 80km events at Biggenden, Kilkivan and Nanango, to achieve Jessica's Open Endurance rider status. Jess continued with Beau early in 2016 but the sad decision was made to return her to her owners. Needless to say we are honoured to have this fabulous mare and will be forever grateful to Peter and Penny Toft. Jess then began her partnership with homebred L. Iris.

Avlon Wilserene
Avlon Wilserene is a grey (born black) registered Arabian Horse Society Aust. Anglo stallion (AS2187) born 14/9/1994 He is 50% Arabian 50%Thoroughbred and stands at 16.2hh Avlon Wilserene was bred by Omani Arabians at Mullengandra NSW, with the registered breeder being the Late Gary John McCarthy of Bodalla NSW, as he and his mother Alice Austin were the owners of the mare. Will was sired by Chipala Shabah (S8110 DOB 4/11/82, Ibn Farazdac / Sokarah ), a 16hh grey purebred stallion owned by Diana and Garry Knagge of Omani. Shabah was tall and athletic with good bone and a lovely temperament. His Egyptian lines consisted of performance and racing ancestors such as Nazeer, and Shahd by Amlam by Balance (fastest racehorse over a mile bred by the RAS). Shabah was considered to be plain for an Egyptian which was probably explained by his 27% Crabbet heritage with lines going back to Skowronek, Rustem, Kazmeen, Ibn Yasmak, Bint Rissala, Ibn Nura, Sottam, Mesaoud, Selma, Kasima, Nefisa and more. Ibn Farazdac was a grey stallion achieving Champion Colt 1980 at the Victorian Arabian Horse Classic and Australian Arabian Top Ten Stallion in 1982, sired by Farazdac and out of the well-known mare Ramses Malaka. Ramses Malaka was also the dam of Chipala Bin Mahran, sire of Bruce Overton bred competitive Endurance horses Charabal Barlow(Exp UAE) and Charabal Fabian, owned by Chris Forrester.Chipala Shabah was shown for A Class Supreme Exhibit at halter and ‘A’ Class winner under saddle. Shabah sired Arabian racehorses such as Omani Shazah (EXP UAE) and Shasind. Chipala Shabah also sired Omani Iman (exp UAE) who was one of the most consistent and competitive UAE endurance performers from Australia in 2006 and 2007. Chipala Shabah was also Australian Stock Horse registered and Stockhorse registered mares put to Will are able have their progeny registered as Arabian Stockhorses. The dam of Avlon Wilserene was a 17hh bay Thoroughbred mare, Foresthaven Serene (ID71887 born 1978) and owned by Alice Austin of Avlon stud, Cudal NSW. Alice is an endurance rider who has bred partbred arabians and welsh ponies. Foresthaven Serene (Sarah) was bred in NZ. She was the winner of the led Thoroughbred filly class at the Sydney Royal in 1979. Sarah went on to be ridden in hack classes, including the Melbourne Royal, and dressage with Mary Hanna (Olympic dressage rider). Sarah then had two warmblood colt foals before returning to dressage and eventing with Gary McCarthy. One of these foals went on to be a successful eventing horse. Foresthaven Serene was sired by Cairngorm, who was sired by Tourmaline, a successful thoroughbred racehorse, who was sired by Star Kingdom, Champion Sire of Australia numerous times. Her pedigree includes French and New Zealand racehorses. She was then sent to Chipala Shabah at Omani. Dianne Knagge bred two full brothers, Avlon Wilserene and Omani Chipserene, who was owned by Alice Austin and then later sold to the UAE for endurance. In 1996 as a 2 year old, Avlon Wilserene began his show career with Diana and Garry Knagge for Omani Arabians at Mullengandra NSW. In 1997 Will won the Anglo colt 2 & 3 years, and Champion Anglo Arabian colt at the National Arabian Stud Horse Show. In 1998 Will was awarded Champion Anglo Colt at the East Coast Championships. Pictures of him as a 4 year old, show he was still black. At the 1999 Australian National Arabian Championships Will won Reserve champion Anglo Colt or stallion. Avlon Wilserene was then started under saddle. In 1999 Will moved on to breed eventers with Thoroughbred mares at Galaxy Park in Weston NSW then later Warwick QLD. He was also started as an Eventer. Kathryn Jones bred a few foals for show jumping, one being Galaxy Park Betelgeux, a 16.1 grey Anglo gelding now competing in Nth Qld.The owners’ circumstances changed and in about 2000 Will moved on to Nambour where he bred a lot of unregistered horses from a variety of mares and some of these may have ended up in the Gympie area. In 2005 Lorraine Currie discovered him and updated his AHSA registration. Over the next 8 years Will was used over Purebred Arabians, Partbreds, Warmbloods and Stockhorses. As a Crabbet breeder, Lorraine was very impressed with his conformation and temperament, and comments,“I bought Will because he was the epitome of what an Anglo should be like. And yes to look at him you would say he was Crabbet as he has good bone. All my other horses are Crabbet. Years ago I bred some Anglo's but did not like their temperaments so stopped doing that until I met Will. I love the Crabbet horses but have found that a good horse is a good horse no matter what the strain or breed.”Since that time, most of Will's progeny have been registered and have started under saddle. Avlon Wilserene was born black without any white markings or pink skin. He has 4 dark well shaped even feet, straight legs and excellent bone. He has a nice length of rein and shoulder. He has a masculine Anglo head with Arab ears and a kind eye. At a fraction under 16.2 he is quite tall and of solid build, with a powerful hindquarter, but is also very athletic. He has a long stride at the walk trot and canter. He does not itch. Will is gentle and respectful with his handlers and mares. Although he can fire up like any stallion, he has impeccable manners and enjoys attention. In September 2013, Will joined us at Lanamere Arabians. We are very excited about the addition of 75% Arabians to our purebred Arabian breeding program. He will breed with our beautiful mostly Crabbet Arabian mares who have recently retired from Endurance competition. There is no doubt that this will result in some tall athletic riding horses with strong Arabian racing, Thoroughbred racing, Dressage movement and Endurance ability in their blood.Pedigree
